MD BOOT DRIVE

Each year the Firefighters in Canada raise over $1,000,000 for Muscular Dystrophy during the annual "Boot Drive" across the country.

Since 1964 the Prince George Firefighters have held a Boot Drive and have raised thousands of dollars each year towards research and treatment for those suffering from MD.

In Prince George each year both on-duty and off duty Firefighters coordinate a number of activities to raise funds during the "Boot Drive" week. Often fire fighters can be seen at the shopping centers with their fire trucks, using a fire-fighting boot to collect the money.

Your generosity in helping toward this worthwhile charity each year is greatly appreciated! In 2007, the Prince George Firefighters: Local 1372, earned the Bill Grindlay Award for Fire Department of the year for their efforts for Muscular Dystrophy

SPIRIT OF THE NORTH HARLEY DAVIDSON RAFFLE

Since 1988 the Prince George Firefighters have raised funds for charity by holding an annual Harley Davidson raffle. Each year the first prize in the draw has been either a Harley "Heritage Soft Tail Classic", or a "Fat Boy", with the second prize being a leather jacket and the third prize being leather chaps.

Each year between December and March about 3,500 tickets are sold raising approximately $28,000.00, which is donated to the Prince George Hospital to purchase much need items. In past years the funds raised went to the Muscular Dystrophy Association but since 1996 money raised has been given to the Spirit Of The North Health Care Foundation as a way of using money raised in Prince George to help a greater number of people locally. Each year members participate in selling tickets at Costco [special thanks for giving us the space to sell tickets] in Prince George. (Tickets can also be purchased at the Harley Shop and at Fire Hall #1.)
